Right Place, Right Time

The other day I was visiting a friend, and I watched a hawk fly by her front window. She mentioned that the nest was in the next tree over from where the hawk landed. So, of course, I had to grab my camera and head out. This is a juvenile red-tailed hawk, and it was magnificent!

Around the Water

This is the front view of my Wordless Wednesday pelican. I loved watching this bird, and look at the amazing reflection in the water!

Every animal that came out of the water was covered in this algae. I photographed lots of turtles. They were everywhere we looked!

I spent quite a bit of time photographing this frog! Usually frogs leap into the water the moment you approach, but this one continued to sit in the sun, oblivious to our presence.

More Dogs

This little sweetheart is Brandy! She is a 4 month old Brussels Griffon mix puppy, and she is adorable. Very friendly, playful and sweet, and she only weighs about 6 pounds, so she is tiny.

And this handsome guy is Austin, a 1 year old Yorkshire terrier. He will be fostered at our house as soon as he is healthy. He is very shy, but friendly, and I am in love with him already!

Water Lilies

These photographs were taken on the KU campus in Lawrence, Kansas. We went there to photograph the green herons, but I was just as enamored with the water lilies. I loved photographing the water lilies and watching the color shifts in the morning light. I could have spent hours doing this from all angles!

Snickers

This photograph captures just the way she looks at me with her big brown eyes! She is such a sweetheart, and I love watching her learn to be a cherished pet. After 7 years in a puppy mill, I'd say she deserves every bit of spoiling that we give her!

Evening Storms

Last night we had a summer storm come through our area, complete with rain, thunder and lightning. This morning it feels like all of the gardens are refreshed! The photo above is a hens & chickens plant from my mom, and I love the raindrops and colors that were captured in this photo!

This is one of my Asiatic lilies that is blooming this morning after getting a huge drink of rain last night. The colors in this lily are gorgeous!

And this is such a great photo of Snickers in the morning light. She looks at me with such love in her eyes, and I melt. She is going to be a tough foster to let go. She is so loving and so gentle to everyone!

The Little Things

Every time I foster a puppy mill dog, I am reminded how spoiled my dogs are. Tonight Snickers was so tired, so I gave her a dog bed and blanket. She had no idea what they were. I had to teach her about the comforts of sleeping in a comfy dog bed, cuddled up with her very own fleece blanket. It's so sad that a 7 year old dog has never had her own bed and blanket. I look around my house, and there are 4 dog beds for our two dogs --- and more blankets than I can count. My heart breaks for sweet little Snickers, and I promise to find her a forever home where she will be pampered and spoiled for the rest of her life!
