Right Place, Right Time

The other day I was visiting a friend, and I watched a hawk fly by her front window. She mentioned that the nest was in the next tree over from where the hawk landed. So, of course, I had to grab my camera and head out. This is a juvenile red-tailed hawk, and it was magnificent!

What a handsome guy. i hope his nest is successful. I saw so few hawks on my travels this year - I wonder where they have gone to.
