Lewis

Lewis is a little one year old male bichon that just arrived in rescue. His owner surrendered him, and he has not had any vetting or grooming done in his life. Thankfully, we were able to get his matted fur combed, brushed and cut. Today he is at the vet for his neuter and vaccinations. I am thankful that he is safe in rescue and being taken care of, but it is sad to see all these owners surrendering their dogs to rescue. It's a daily reminder of our downtrodden economy and the fact that some dog owners see their dogs as possessions and not as family.

Lewis is available for adoption through Hands, Hearts and Paws, Inc.

FOREVER

FOREVER MEANS FOREVER.

The other night I watched as an owner surrendered their dog to rescue. The dog was excited to see us, but then he realized he was being dumped. As they drove away, I listened to him cry. It was gut wrenching, and I will never forget it.

Dog ownership is a lifetime commitment. Giving a dog a forever home means just exactly that --- making them a family member, loving them unconditionally and keeping them forever.

Poppy

April's theme in the artist trading card (ATC) swap group that I belong to is "poppy". Inspired by the colors in a field of poppies, I chose red, yellow and black for my palette this month. The base is a new-to-me product called acrylic paper. It is similar to watercolor paper in weight, but it has a surface texture like canvas. Because of that, I chose to paint this month's ATCs --- no collage elements.

Simplicity

Taos triptych
each collage is 5"x7"

I have been working on a series of collages that emphasize simplicity and minimalism. I like the calm, peaceful feeling these collages evoke in me. It is relaxing to work on them, yet a bit challenging to remember "less is more".

Bittersweet Day

Lexi has been our foster for 3 weeks now while she healed from all of her injuries. Her bones are healing, and her road rash looks much better. So, I guess that means that it is time for her to go to her forever home. I wasn't really ready to let her go yet. Despite all of her pain and injuries, she immediately loved and trusted me, and we will always share a special bond. She is one of those fosters that is taking a huge chunk of my heart with her. I will always miss my Lexi kisses!

This is her forever family, and they were so excited to adopt Lexi. She wasn't sure what was going on, but in time I think she will grow to love having two kids to play with her, plus a big furry sister. They live on an acreage, so she will get to go on long walks, exploring everything wonderful about living in the country. I wish them all much happiness!
