The Little Things

Every time I foster a puppy mill dog, I am reminded how spoiled my dogs are. Tonight Snickers was so tired, so I gave her a dog bed and blanket. She had no idea what they were. I had to teach her about the comforts of sleeping in a comfy dog bed, cuddled up with her very own fleece blanket. It's so sad that a 7 year old dog has never had her own bed and blanket. I look around my house, and there are 4 dog beds for our two dogs --- and more blankets than I can count. My heart breaks for sweet little Snickers, and I promise to find her a forever home where she will be pampered and spoiled for the rest of her life!

I was a bit teary myself when I realized that she didn't know what a dog bed was. So sad. She is learning that people can have a gentle, soothing touch for her; that there will always be good food and fresh water available; and that sleeping in a bed with a blanket is more comfy than she ever knew. I love watching her learn to enjoy life!
