Finished or Not?
This collage has been sitting on my drawing table for a month now. I love the way the fabrics interplay with each other, but something about it doesn't feel finished. I'm not sure if it needs a central image, or over screening, or........? If you have an idea, let me know.
When we went for our evening walk around the lake, Jim spotted this in the grass beside the path. I'm not sure what I will create with it, but it was too much of a treasure to just leave it there. We think it is probably from a bull snake --- thank goodness we didn't see the actual snake!

eeewww. ick. you are a brave woman. what in the world will you do with it?
Love the colors and screening. I am wondering if the collage needs some visual weight around the bottom, perhaps with the navy blue color.
I think I needs a darker background, or is your intention to leave it with the random edges? I'd also like to see some very subtle gold metallic on it some way. I think it needs the darker background as a foundation, but it doesn't necessarily need to be squared off. I love the turquoise colors and the deeper blue (?) accents. It's lovely.
It seems to me that the large rectangle on the right-hand top side is visually heavier than the rest. Some suggestions might be to break up that rectangle with something (maybe some horizontal lines) or add some more to the bottom left corner. Just a thought.
Karen, I think it needs something horizontal to anchor it at the bottom. I know the feeling of not being sure - and if you have a question in your own mind, it's not finished. Most of the time, anyway..
Rayna....you are right, it wasn't done and I should have followed my instinct sooner.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions! The reworked piece is posted on a new entry, along with the original collage for comparison.
