Mimosa

A few years ago I got a mimosa seedling from a fellow artist, and while many people will think I am nuts, I have never regretted it. The mimosa is a dainty tree with leaves that look like ferns and a delicate pink puffball flower. We planted it next to our deck, in hopes that hummingbirds would discover it, and we could watch the birds. Every year I am thrilled with the smell of its blossoms and the visitors those blossoms attract!

Oh, I know the Mimosa very well. It grew where I used to live in Massachusetts and my husband is allergic to it and can't stop sneezing when near one. My grandchildren loved watching the leaves close up at night so I had a little one in a flower pot. I had to get rid of it for my husband's well-being.
