FOREVER
FOREVER MEANS FOREVER.
The other night I watched as an owner surrendered their dog to rescue. The dog was excited to see us, but then he realized he was being dumped. As they drove away, I listened to him cry. It was gut wrenching, and I will never forget it.
Dog ownership is a lifetime commitment. Giving a dog a forever home means just exactly that --- making them a family member, loving them unconditionally and keeping them forever.

We have 2 shitzus we purchased and a maltese rescued after the Joplin tornado. He was never claimed and had gnawed off this hair that was left that the storm didn't take. He is a constant companion of my DH's and cries pitifully if Ron leaves him. He is secure here but always seems to remember being lost and alone.
