Dooley
Recently a rescue friend described rescue as "saving the dogs we can and crying for the ones we can't". Unfortunately, today has been a day of tears. Two weeks ago I met a transport with Dooley onboard. He settled into my SUV and promptly laid his head on my shoulder and gave me kisses all the way to the vet's office. I was so smitten! He is so gorgeous, so sweet, so friendly, and way too young to be dying. This morning we got the definitive diagnosis that he is in renal failure, and our goal now is to keep him comfortable and make him feel loved. This is not what a 4 month old puppy deserves!

My 13 year old border collie never let on her age at all - active fun. but starting 3 weeks ago, she basically stopped wanting to eat. In and out of the vet the last three weeks - up because she ate more than a mouthful and then down because she wouldn't touch anything else.
They did an ultra sound at last because blood work all was normal - except white blood cells which basically meant she was poorly - something odd was in the liver, but not what they normally see. she had another anibiotic injection on Friday, but still never picked up. you could tell she was suffering more and more.
So, my son came back from uni on Sunday and we all said our goodbyes. and yesterday (monday) morning we let her go.
I sure do miss my friend herding me into place, telling me to get lunch or fix dinner and just being there for a big hug. No one to bark at the postman who has just been. It is hard. But I am glad she doesn't hurt anymore.

I'm so glad that he at least has the chance for lots of love and care in his short life.
ahhhh that is so sad...poor thing. Such wonderful work that you do with these dogs...bless you!
