It's The Little Things
Although I don't usually play along with online blog tags, yesterday I read one that listed things (not people) that pleased her. It made me stop and think about my list, and I decided to share it with you today.
Here are some of the things that I enjoy and appreciate, in no particular order:
1. small surprises, like dragonflies and postcards from friends
2. the sound of ocean waves, especially when coupled with a seagull's cry and the feel of sand between my toes
3. sunrise and sunset walks
4. puppy kisses
5. a strong cup of coffee in the morning and a smooth glass of merlot in the evening
6. old fashioned values --- peace and harmony, honesty and loyalty, integrity and trust
7. jazz music
8. the freedom to create art all day every day
9. a soft, gentle rain
What's on your list of things that make you happy?

That reminds me of how much I used to like 'life savors', a little filler in some magazine I used to read. Amusing to me how this gal who despises lists enjoys reading other people's - especially ones that don't involve the compulsion and pressure 'to DO'...on mine would be the screaming of hawks nearby. I was just thinking listening to them this morning how much I'll miss that sound while I'm away the next couple weeks. But I'll see cardinals again, I hope, for the first time in ages. Better be sure the camera has fresh batteries.
Great list! So many of the small things only require being alive and aware with an attitude of openness.
1. sunsets from the porch
2. especially the ORANGE dragonflies
3. the shock of hitting a cold pool of water on a hot day
4. when the clouds fill the valley below us and look like a lake
5. a glass of really good red wine
6. two cups of French Press latte in the morning
7. leg of lamb cooked on the grill
8. a drawer of colored spools of thread
9. my new bed pillows and quilt, the project of procrastination, that used a boatload of collected textiles
no only the ocean, but being in the mountains and hearing running water...maybe a brook, maybe a waterfall....
Isn't it fun to think about these things? Taking time and being aware is such a gift in itself, and then you get the added pleasure of your discoveries. Susie, I love your list!
