MIA

I know I've been missing in action on this blog for over a week, but it's all been for a good reason. One week ago I left for St. Louis to take a paper & cloth collage workshop with Fran Skiles. It was one of the best workshops I have ever taken, and the techniques I learned will solve some dilemmas that I have had with my recent studio work. Below are some samples of the work I did in the workshop.

text in my newest favorite font, stitching with perle cotton, gesso, acrylic paint & ink

photo taken in a local warehouse, more of the text, gesso, acrylic paint & ink

same photo taken in a local warehouse, more of the text plus some alphabet text, stitching with perle cotton, gesso, acrylic paint & ink

same photo taken in a local warehouse, more of the alphabet text, stitching with perle cotton, gesso, acrylic paint & ink, additional layer of canvas

These are fabulous, Karen! I love how you have loosened up a bit with these. :) My only complaint is that I wish your photos were a bit bigger so we can see the details better. (hint, hint)

LOL, Becky! Hopefully I just fixed that, but you never know with Blogger. To some extent, they make the photos the size they want them.

Karen, these are great. Love 'em. I don't see the stitching, but I'll take your word for it. Are you coming through this weekend?

Karen,

These are gorgeous! The new font looks like Courier, and indeed I don't see stitching either. But still: gorgeous..
