Paint & Collages
Most of the time, when I create a mixed media collage, I also add some painted layers as the final step. I love the added depth that it brings to a piece, and for me, it seems to tie the whole piece together. This morning I photographed my newest name collage --- before and after adding paint --- so that you can judge for yourself if the paint adds to the piece.
Here is the collage with the layers of paper and photographs.
And here is the same collage after adding some details with gold and black paint.

I like both the collages, but it's amazing how much depth is added with the paint!

Definitely makes a huge difference - I know I love text and that is a big part of the appeal for me but the paint really does add depth and takes my eyes around the piece more.
