Busted!
Ever since we got Zeke, he has had a fascination with socks. He doesn't bother any other clothing, but let him near a sock or a pair of socks, and he is in heaven. Luckily he doesn't chew them --- he just prances around with them in his mouth like he has the ultimate prize.

and with a sweet face like that who would have the heart to take the sock from him?!
My little dog does that too! In fact we discovered that she knows that socks come in twos. She likes to drag them out to the living room and put them under the coffee table and gets upset if she only has one of a pair.
When our daughter was younger and had a lot of socks all over her floor, Pixie would always carry the socks away to the living room in pair order until there was a heap of them.
They are funny little creatures, aren't they?
My lab has always had a sock AND glove fetish. Visitors would need to be advised to close up their luggage because she would brazenly root through any open bag and come trotting out with socks. Gloves hidden away in coat pockets are also fair game. The difference between my dog and yours is, if mine doesn't gain the attention trotting around with the item is supposed to garner, if you don't notice or ignore her, then she WILL chew the item beyond repair. Thankfully in her old age, she's slowed down on the socks and gloves routine...
