Tissue Paper Collages

I spent yesterday in the studio flitting from project to project. This is my normal way to work, which is why artist residencies are so hard for me to fathom. How could I possibly take everything along that I think I might want to work on?!?

Anyway...
One of the projects that I worked on was a series of tissue paper collages. I incorporated old patterns, tissue paper, paper towels and paint. These are fairly monochromatic, and I plan to add more color to the next series.

I think you have done a very good job here. i'm afraid I'm a grasshopper too and find it so difficult to pack things when I go somewhere to create.

Karen,

I just had to respond to your residency question. I'm currently in a residency at the McColl Center for Visual Arts in downtown Charlotte. I've found it very freeing to not have Everything here with me - it makes me be creative with what materials I have at hand, or can improvise from other supplies in the building.
Of course, I have the advantage of commuting every day to my studio, but I find I check my "to bring tomorrow" list less and less often.
For me, too much stuff on hand actually limits my creativity. Too many choices.
That's my experience, for what it's work!
