Freedom

This is what freedom looks like for a young puppy! Can you imagine being 10 weeks old and about to be euthanized just because you're a puppy, and you're in a kill shelter that doesn't handle puppies? Thankfully this puppy is safe in rescue now and totally enjoying her freedom!

Champ

Another sad story turned into a success story! Little Champ was dumped by a "breeder" at a vet clinic to be euthanized. He is only 18 weeks old, with his whole life ahead of him, but he suffers from megaesophagus. It's not fatal, and it's not even that hard to manage. Lucky for him, he is now alive and in rescue, and we are fostering him!

Where's Noah?

Noah has claimed the dog bed in my office as his private space. He continually fills the bed with stuffed toys, and then burrows in for a nap. With his little head peeking out, he reminds me of the "Where's Waldo?" game.

Italian Villa

The theme for this month's Artist Trading Card swap is "Italian Villa". At first I was very excited by this theme, with visions of villas and vines and grapes and wine bottles and wine glasses all dancing through my mind. After several failed attempts to create my visions, I stepped back and gave it some more thought. I am not a realism artist, and any time that I try to create artwork with real objects in it, I am disappointed with my results. So, I used the colors that say "Italian Villa" to me and created miniature collages. Then I found an old Italian manuscript and screen printed bits and pieces of it as the final layer. I'm very pleased with the way they turned out!

Lexi

Look who stopped by for a visit! She's gotten a haircut since I fostered her, but she is still a friendly, playful pup, and we all enjoyed having her here for the day.

Lexi is a yorkie/dachshund mix, about a year and a half old, and she was adopted from Hands, Hearts & Paws.

Macro Photographs

I have been experimenting with some macro photographs, with the hopes that eventually they will find their way into some of my artwork. This photograph is my favorite so far, and I can easily see this as a collage inclusion.

More Blues...

12" x 12"

12" x 12"

I'm continuing to work with aquamarine and cobalt blue, and I really love the energy in these pieces! I think that paint is where it's at for me. I am still contemplating a way to incorporate my photography, but for now, paint is my favorite friend in the studio.

Weeble

Weeble arrived in rescue at a few weeks old and about 5 pounds. He had a spinal compression that is thought to be congenital. The puppy miller dropped him and his brother, Wrangler, off to be euthanized, because they had "defects". Wrangler had a heart condition, and sadly he did not live long. Weeble, on the hand, is a friendly, happy puppy that loves life and everyone in it! I am so happy to see him celebrating his first birthday today, and he is surrounded by love every day!
